Power Walking as Self-Care

Power walking is a very simple and yet profound form of self-care. Every step taken contributes to physical strength, increases energy levels, and makes room for breathing. Caring for one’s body is a way of giving honor to God since “your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19).

In addition, power walking helps take care of one’s emotions and mental health. It allows us to relax, calm our minds down, and enjoy the beautiful nature around us. Jesus understood this when He called His disciples saying, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and get some rest” (Mark 6:31).

It is possible to turn power walking into a prayer in action. While walking we can talk to God, say our prayers of thanksgiving, and ask for renewed energy.

“Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary.”
Isaiah 40:31

Power walking is not merely a form of exercise since it also provides a chance to look after your body, refresh your mind, and reestablish your connection with God.
